Campervan Rental Cairns

Cairns provides a relaxing place for tourists and Cairns locals to congregate and have fun.

Cairns Esplanade, once a huge grassy park, now features a world-class facility incorporating an outdoor amphitheatre, a large sandy swimming lagoon, grassy picnic areas, walking tracks, free public barbecues, children's playground, shops and restaurants, an environmental interpretation centre and a Great Barrier Reef cruise departure terminal. Cairns is really the hub to the attractions of Far North Queensland.

Larger than the Great Wall of China and the only living thing visible from space, the Great Barrier Reef is one of the seven wonders of the natural world. The 2000km (1240mi) conglomeration of colorful coral stretches along the Queensland seaboard and makes for some of the most spectacular diving landscape imaginable.

Taking your campervan north along the most breathtaking coast lines where you can almost reach out and touch the sea, about 1 hour’s drive you will come to Port Douglas with its quaint cafés and bars. Back on the highway still heading north you’ll come to Mossman Gorge about 45 minutes’ from Port Douglas. The main thing to do is not very much. Try to take some time out in this remarkable area. Slow down, take it easy and rest a while.

Daintree River and Cape Tribulation are two hours’ north of Cairns via the Cook Highway. The Daintree is the accessible section of breathtakingly beautiful coastal lowland rainforest in the Wet Tropics World Heritage-listed area. This dense, lush area hosts amazing pockets of biodiversity with unique swamp and mangrove forest habitats, eucalypt woodlands, native birds and tropical rainforest.

Kuranda is a pleasant little tourist village to visit; there are markets, restaurants and cafes. Back on our journey and one hour’s drive west from Kuranda is the scenic Atherton Tablelands. Among the World Heritage-listed rainforests, national parks, mountains, rivers, lakes and waterfalls are some of Australia's richest agricultural lands and charming small townships. Classic old hotels, motels, guest houses, backpackers, farm stays, and caravan and camping parks provide the ideal base for exploring — and don’t forget to check out the Curtain Fig Tree, the most amazing tree you are ever likely to see. It is a picture of a century of natural history — a unique example of nature's unpredictability and power.

Things not to be missed

Sail the Whitsundays. If you have the time then set sail into the blue, blue yonder. Crewed day and overnight sailing vessels are an excellent way to explore the seventy-four beautiful Whitsunday Islands at Airlie Beach.

Take a day trip to Fraser Island; visit the Dolphins in Hervey Bay. Leaving Hervey we head to Brisbane.

Memories you take with you will last you a lifetime…
